Q)  Who can file a Workers Compensation in MN?

A) Only employees are entitled to Workers Compensation benefits.  An employee is somebody who works for a business entity or somebody else for pay.  Certain types of employment situations are not covered.  If your an independent contractor your not covered for Workers Compensation.  If you are a corporate officer such as a vice president of a corporation you are not covered unless you have specifically elected Workers Compensation Disability  coverage.  If you are a family member working for your mom or dad or borther or uncle or something like that, your not covered again unless they specifically elect coverage for family members.  If your a farm laborer, farm laborers are not covered, volunteers may or may not be covered.
