Q) What if I injure a pre-existing condition?

A) If you injury a pre-existing condition, it is covered by Workers Compensation benefits.  In order to proceed forward with a Workers Compensation claim, the work injury  only has to be a substantial contributing factor.  What that means is that is does not have to be the primary  factor, it does not have to be the only factor but it has to be a substantial contributing factor.  So if you have  a  pre-existing back condition, if if you have had back surgery and your lifting a box at work and you develop back pain, that additional back pain would be covered for Workers Compensation because it arose out of your employment even though it aggravated a pre-existing condition.
